When you’re navigating the world of neurodiversity, it often feels like you’re constantly fighting a battle. Whether it’s decoding the latest NDIS reform, waiting weeks for an email reply from a provider, or simply trying to find a place where your child isn’t just "managed" but truly celebrated, the journey can be exhausting.
At Planet Oasis, we know that feeling because we’ve lived it. We didn’t start this organisation because we saw a gap in the market; we started it because we saw a gap in the care. We created this service around the needs of our own neurodiverse family members: seeking a level of understanding, flexibility, & genuine connection that we simply couldn’t find anywhere else. This isn't just a business for us; it’s our heart & soul. We believe that lived experience changes everything. It’s the difference between a service that ticks boxes & a community that helps your family thrive, explore, & grow.
Born From Love Lived Experience
Most disability service providers are built on clinical models. They focus on "outputs" & "milestones." While those things matter, they often miss the most important part: the human experience. As a family-founded & operated team, we approach things differently. We remember the nights spent worrying about what happens after school finishes. We remember the frustration of feeling like a number in a giant corporate system. We built Planet Oasis to be the antidote to that experience.
When we talk about Independent Living Skills or Post School Day Programs, we aren’t just reading from a manual. We’re drawing on years of navigating the same hurdles you’re facing right now. We understand the specific challenges, the small victories, & the deep desire for our loved ones to prosper on their own terms. Our "lived experience" means we don’t just empathise with you; we are you. This perspective drives every decision we make: from the mentors we hire to the way we design our facilities.
Responsiveness: Because You’ve Waited Long Enough
One of the biggest frustrations for NDIS families is the "waiting game." Waiting for a callback, waiting for an invoice, waiting for a simple answer to a question. In a world that’s already complicated, we believe communication should be the easy part. At Planet Oasis, we’ve made it our mission to be the most responsive provider you’ll ever work with. We aim to respond to emails within minutes, not days.
Why? Because we know that by the time you’ve sent that email, you’ve likely already spent hours worrying about the issue. You don't need a "we’ll get back to you in 3-5 business days" auto-reply. You need an answer.
You have questions & we have answers. Whether you’re curious about our School Holiday Programs or need help understanding Independent Living options, we’re here to chat when you need us. No gatekeeping, no jargon: just real people helping real families.
A Home Away From Home With an Epic Twist
Facilities shouldn't feel like hospitals. They shouldn't be sterile, grey, or boring. We believe that for young people to feel safe enough to embolden themselves & try new things, they need to feel completely at home. Our facilities are designed to be epic, magical, & inviting. Think of them as a "home away from home" but with extra-special touches. We’ve created spaces where our participants can cook, climb, swim, slide, swing, sing, laugh & jive.
From our monthly discos & Friday night gaming sessions to our tranquil Weekend Getaways, every environment we create is about fostering social connection & joy. When a young person walks through our doors, we want them to feel like they belong to something special. This isn't just a place to spend time; it's a place to build a life.
Filling the Gap: Volunteering & Work Experience
One of the most challenging transitions for any family is the jump from school to the "real world." For neurodiverse youth, this transition can often feel like a cliff edge. Standard employment programs often lack the nuance & one-on-one support needed to help a school leaver truly find their feet. That’s why we offer specialised, one-on-one services for work experience & volunteering. We saw this gap & decided to fill it ourselves.
We don't believe in a "one size fits all" approach to employment. Instead, we work closely with our participants to find out what they’re passionate about. Do they love animals? Let’s find a volunteer role at a shelter. Are they tech-savvy? Let’s explore digital projects.
By providing a dedicated mentor, we ensure that the experience isn't overwhelming. We’re there to bridge the gap, building confidence & skills in a way that feels supportive rather than pressured. It’s about helping our participants find their "place" in the community & seeing them prosper in roles that actually mean something to them.
Engaging Programs for Every Stage of the Journey
Whether your child or young adult is aged 9 to 35, we’ve designed programs that meet them exactly where they are.
For the Young Ones (Ages 9-17)
Our School Holiday Programs are all about social connection & sensory fun. We’re talking jumping, climbing, creating, & dancing!
For Young Adults (Ages 18-35)
Our Day Programs focus on community participation, workshops, & recreational outings that help build a sense of purpose.
For the Adventurers
Our Weekend Getaways & Sleepover Clubs offer a chance for independence in a safe, intimate group setting with peers who just "get it."
The Integrated OT Revolution
We also offer integrated Occupational Therapists (OTs) directly within our programs, which means support doesn’t just happen in theory; it happens in real life, every single day. Having OTs like Pippa on the ground daily means we don’t have to rely on impersonal "Zoom-only" assessments that only capture a tiny snapshot of a person’s world. Instead, we use real-life observations across routines, activities, & everyday moments to build high-quality evidence that genuinely reflects each participant’s strengths, needs, goals, & progress.
This approach helps us see the full picture: the small wins, the big triumphs, the challenges, & all the practical strategies that actually work in daily life. It also means our therapists and mentors can work more closely together, creating support that feels connected, responsive, & useful. Through our sister company, Planet Ability – Occupational Therapist, we also provide specialised support for assessments, SIL applications, & NDIS reviews. Because our reports are informed by what participants are really doing in their day-to-day lives, they tell a much more accurate story, helping families access evidence that is meaningful, relevant, & grounded in lived experience.
The Planet Oasis Promise
When you join the Planet Oasis community, you aren’t just signing up for a service. You’re joining a family that understands your journey.
We promise to:
Listen first: Your goals & your child’s needs are the blueprint for everything we do.
Be flexible: Life with neurodiversity isn't always predictable. We get that & we adapt.
Provide the best mentors: We only hire people who share our passion for genuine connection.
Stay responsive: You’ll never be left wondering where you stand.
As one of our beautiful families recently shared: "Finding Planet Oasis was like taking a huge breath of fresh air. For the first time, we felt like people actually understood our son’s potential instead of just seeing his challenges. The team is like an extension of our own family."
